Dr. Shameka Rodgers Phillips is a nurse scientist, nurse practitioner, and wellness advocate passionate about serving the youth and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Dr. Phillips’ research focuses on improving sleep and health equity for youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a wellness advocate, Dr. Phillips wants to create a space where others, especially professionals from disadvantaged backgrounds, can be encouraged to prioritize their wellness. Her passion for her work and research is driven by her experiences as a Black woman and first-generation college graduate from the rural, Deep South. Research

Dr. Phillips’ research focus is pediatric sleep health and youth health equity. She has published and presented on various topics including pediatric sleep health, pediatric cardiometabolic health, stress, contextual/socioecological environments, and scientific nursing.

Dr. Phillips presents on various topics, including her research, prioritizing your wellness, sleep health, her academic journey, and her personal experiences as a first-generation college student from a disadvantaged background.

Book Club

We will read each book for 2 months. Join The Wellness Reflect Book Club and Journaling Group Discord here and Goodreads group here. We will have a monthly meet-up, and I will include reflection points and journaling prompts throughout the month in our Discord and social media.
